2022 Goals

2022 Goal Updates (Week 4)

Walk 500 miles this year (40 down and 460 to go)

This week I did Bodyfit by Amy videos on Youtube (its free!) and hiked at Mount Cheaha (Alabama’s highest point)

Go on 12 hikes

My husband and I celebrated our 19th wedding anniversary at a remote cabin on Mount Cheaha and got in a few short hikes. It was cold, but so beautiful. If you like beautiful views and remote locations all while staying in a comfortable setting (aka warm cabin with a kitchen) then try out Mount Cheaha if you are visiting Alabama.

Teach the kids to cook

So far, Ben has cooked one meal in January and Emma has not attempted any.

Read 100 books (up to 6)

The Plot: A Novel

I really enjoyed The Plot. It is a thriller about a struggling novelist who decides to steal an idea for a book from one of his students after the teacher hears of his death. The thriller part comes in after the ill gotten book becomes an instant best seller and the author begins to get troubling messages from someone who knows that he stole the idea. We as readers can actually piece together who is behind the mystery before the main character does, so it’s like watching a train wreck from the sidelines. This book is full of family drama, murder, and a ton of suspense. What’s not to like?

Station Eleven

I’ve tried to read Station Eleven before, but I just could not get into it. I think it was because the story is too similar to the pandemic we are actually facing right now. I decided to try it one more time and I really enjoyed it. It follows a group of people who have overlapping stories from before, during, and after the pandemic of the Georgian Flu that wiped out 99% of the population. I say it’s kind of like the Walking Dead minus zombies and add in a traveling Shakespearean acting troupe. If that sounds like your jam, then you should enjoy this book. Very well written and fast moving.

Visit 12 museums or artistic events

Attend adoration or a daily mass each week

I did not make it to adoration or a daily mass this past week because of our trip and then playing catchup with life the rest of the week. Hopefully this week will look different, and I can make it to one or the other at least.

Take my kids on an outing by themselves each month

January (done)

Buy more used things

I bought 3 books in our library’s used book room.

Do more embroidery projects

Here are some of the ones I’ve completed so far minus the two cat ones I made my son and daughter. *I am currently working on another cat embroidery project. So many cats!
