My Week

Weekly Recap (6.5.2020)

Jane Eyre (Bantam Classics)

What I read: I started Jane Eyre.

Emma (15 years old) finished Unwanteds 2: Island of Silence.

Ben (8 years old) is reading Stink Moody: Hamlet and Cheese and finished The Last Kids on Earth. **He really enjoys Judy Moody and Stink Moody books. We have continuously read them again and again for bedtime since last fall. I highly recommend them because I enjoy them as much as he does…and that is saying something!

What I watched:  House Hunters International, Parks and Recreation, and Justified.

Blessings this week:

ben bear

-My sweet Ben found a baby bear stuffed animal at the thrift store and snuggled it all afternoon. Ever since he was little, he has been known as “Ben bear” and it is fitting because he is so cuddly like a bear:)

-Our youth group started back up and the kids were very happy to see each other.

-Ben ate two bites of broccoli and one bite of a cucumber without too much fuss. **If you know my son, you would understand the huge blessing this was. In full disclosure, he said both were disgusting, but the gagging was kept to a minimum….

Something I learned this week:

-I learned what ASMR is. I must live under a rock because I never knew that some people will watch Youtube videos of things being sliced neatly or listening to things being gently tapped to calm down and relax….FYI…Those videos have the opposite effect on me, they freak me out!

-That social media and news outlets stress me out…oh wait….I already knew this…. **I cannot understand why I do it to myself??? Living with my head under the sand or moving to an isolated island looks more and more inviting each day. Maybe the hermits have had it right all along….

Something I was happy to accomplish this week:

barn puzzle
This was soooo hard

-I finished the hardest puzzle I have done yet. The tree branches were excruciating to piece together.

Anne of Green Gables, 20th Anniversary Collector's Edition--5 DVDs -

-The kids and I watched Anne of Green Gables together in the evenings while I was working on my puzzle. I forgot how wonderful of a show it was and how much I loved Anne. **To make it even better, I found it used on eBay for just $10!

-Oh and we managed to survive another week in this crazy world as gracefully as possible. #Blessthismess

Funny things that happened this week:

-Emma had a kreme-filled doughnut at Krispy Kreme and sighed happily as she ate it, “Kreme makes things so beautiful.” Yes, Emma. Yes it does.

-I forget how brutal teenagers can be. After our youth group, a few of the teens were discussing some of the things they liked to do when the previous youth minister was running the group. One of the teens turned to me and said, “Maybe you can ask her to come back and visit and she can give you some ideas to make it fun again?” Ouch!! Lucky for him, my brain loves getting all kinds of input, so I was not offended at all. It did inspire me to up my game a bit, so hopefully next week will be much better. Out of the mouths of babes….

Two of my favorite posts from the week:

This is funny and true on so many levels! I dare you to read (or watch) Pride and Prejudice (or any Jane Austen book) and see if you cannot find the similarities:)

And don’t you forget it.

Stay safe and try to keep on laughing!
