Goals

Goal Update for Week 28

1. Walk at least 500 miles this year (283 down and 217 to go)

I kind of slacked this week and only completed 7 miles, but luckily I had built up a nice buffer in my mileage for the year, so I am not behind. Back to it this week!

2. Read two nonfiction or classic books each month Accomplished

Becoming

This week I read Becoming by Michelle Obama. I had read many favorable reviews on this book before I chose it and would agree that it was a very well written memoir. It is always interesting to read about how a person became who they are and how they felt while living a very public life. The thing that impressed me again and again in this book was the amazing love that Michelle has for her husband and two daughters. **I also found it humorous that she said again and again in the memoir that she will never run for office. The reasons she gave:  she has never cared for (or trusted) politicians as a whole and how the bipartisan mentality of our Senate and House are extremely detrimental to our country’s ability to run appropriately. If you like memoirs in general then you should really enjoy this book. It was enjoyable to read and filled with lots of behind the scene pictures from the Obama’s years in office.

3. Try to buy nothing new this year

Confession:  This week I bought a new basketball for my son. **I do not feel too terribly about this because it was on clearance and all of the used ones we have seen over the past two weeks have been in terrible conditions. It will also hopefully trick my son into getting some much needed exercise.

4. Take each of my children on an outing by themselves every month

One down and one to go

5. Have two family game nights every month

Not yet

6. Complete two home improvements or projects each month

This week I tackled organizing my filing cabinet which was long overdue. I don’t know why I even kept 75% of what I had accumulated over the past 3 years! Now I can actually find my tax records and homeschool documents with ease.

7. Finish editing and publish my NaNoWriMo novel

I have officially finished editing my novel. Yay! I also managed to pick out three possibilities for my eBook cover, so that is exciting as well:)

8. Learn to knit and crochet this year

No progress

9. Try two new low carb or gluten free recipes each month

This week, I found an extremely easy recipe for Low Carb Chicken Enchiladas that both my husband and I both loved. **I will share it with you later in the week
