1. Kept cold food cold
We were without power for 18 hours so I made sure to only open the refrigerator and freezer when we absolutely had to. I also put half of the ice we had in the ice maker into a bowl inside our refrigerator, which helped to keep the temperature lower. **I am happy to say we did not lose any food, so that was a great blessing.
2. Free item at Bath and Body Works
A few weeks ago, I received a card in the mail from Bath and Body Works that was good for a free full-sized item. (I have to admit I am terrible at remembering to use the coupon within the time limit given, so I made a special trip last week to pick it up) How is this frugal?? Well I let my daughter pick out a fragrance that one of her friends might like, so she can give it as a gift later in the year. **All teenage girls love Bath and Body Works, so it works out to everyone’s advantage:)
3. Kroger deals
This past week, our local Kroger had a great deal on bratwursts, so I made sure to stock up for the summer. (Grilled meals are so easy!) I also picked up five blocks of cheese for just $.99 each and four packages of chicken thighs marked down to $.99/lb.
4. Fels Naptha
I am in charge of washing the altar linens for our church during the month of April each year, so I spend a lot of my time soaking and scrubbing communion linens each week. **Let me tell you lipstick does not come out of white linen very easily!! Each year, (besides time spent scrubbing) I have to buy new products to remove lipstick smudges that never really work that well. This year, as I was walking along the detergent aisle, I came upon a bar of Fels Naptha, which I had heard lots of people use as a stain remover. So I bought it and lo and behold, it is a miracle worker. I think the bar was just $2 and it saved me at least an hour of scrubbing time…so that is a definite win!
5. Decluttering finds
As you might remember, I have been on a much needed decluttering kick lately. This week, I found a pair of jeans that I had bought awhile ago hidden behind a box in my closet. This was especially nice because my current jeans are starting to get really worn and I had started to looking for a new pair at the thrift store last week (which can be very time consuming) So, I was really thankful to find a new pair already waiting for me in my closet:)
How did you save money this week??
This is kind of like reading my own frugal list! I got those same brats and cheese deals at Fred Meyer. 🙂 Good to know about the Fels Naptha! I bought a bar a while back, but I haven’t used it yet, since I’m waiting for my other stain treaters to run out.
